The combination of a large central stone surrounded by a halo of smaller garnets is traditional in the Czech jewellery industry. This particular design is a more modern variation on the tradition, using an atypical checker cut cabashon garnet for a central stone. The size and the cut of the stone are particularly flattering for garnet, bringing out its deep red color. Average weight 4.53 g

The stone is held with two V-shaped prongs which fix it firmly without distracting the beholder's eye from the exquisite marquise shape, the checker cut and the deep red colour.
